I’ve found in my own life the difference between when I’m achieving at a high level and when I’m stuck in mediocrity is found in my daily habits. Am I doing the things I don’t want to but know I should, or am I giving into the things I want to do but know I shouldn’t? When I’m elite, I do what I don’t won’t to but must.
Here are my four daily habits that make me feel ELITE.
1. Win the Morning
Early in my career I had a boss and mentor named Ian Wednt and he taught me the power of ‘Winning the Morning’ AKA our Power Hour. How you start your day sets the tone for everything else. Me being elite requires I don’t leave my morning to chance.
Wake Up With Purpose: I get out of bed at the same time every day, drink a full glass of water, and do an unplugged task. Gym, Read, Quite Time, Run, etc.
Prioritize Movement: I exercise or stretch to boost energy and focus. It doesn’t have to be intense; I just move. My ideal is 30 minutes of cardio or a 45 minute lift.
Plan Your Day: What I personally think is the most important! I spend 10–20 minutes identifying my top three priorities, little actions I need to do like calling my mom or buying flowers on my way home from work for my wife. I write them down and commit to completing them.
Action Step: Create a Win The Morning routine checklist and stick to it for 45 days. MF7’s “WIN 45” strategy.
